Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions about The Anthony Bourdain Reader and OfficialSaga's hardcover editions. If your question isn't here, email support@officialsaga.com.

About the book

Is The Anthony Bourdain Reader a repackage of his bestsellers?

No. About 60% of the volume is either new to print (the France 1973 diary, the handwritten kitchen poems, marginalia and sketches) or new to book form (the rediscovered Esquire / Lucky Peach / New Yorker pieces, the Salty Horse graphic novel excerpt). The remaining 40% is curated selections from the bestsellers.

Who edited it?

Kimberly Witherspoon, Bourdain's literary agent for more than 20 years and the agent who sold Kitchen Confidential to Bloomsbury in 1999.

Who wrote the foreword?

Patrick Radden Keefe, author of Empire of Pain (Sackler family / OxyContin) and Say Nothing (Northern Ireland). Serious journalism credentials; not a fan-club introduction.

How many pages? What's the production like?

~600 pages. Hardcover. Sewn binding (lies flat). Archival paper that doesn't yellow. Full-color reproductions of the handwritten material and the graphic novel excerpt.

Is the Bourdain estate involved?

The volume is edited by Witherspoon under license, with all rights clearances in place. OfficialSaga is an independent retailer of the hardcover edition. We make no claim of estate endorsement beyond Witherspoon's verified editorial role.
